What are essential oils and how do they benefit us?

Essential oils are the essence of a plant and are extracted from roots, stems, leaves, flowers, or bark by a specialized process of steam distillation.

Essential oils can benefit a person through direct application to the skin of a product containing the oils, through aromatherapy body massage, and through inhalation. Each essential oils is made up of it’s own unique chemical composition, which have been shown to trigger certain reactions internally such as; releasing tension/stress, uplifting, energizing, relaxing etc. Essential oils offer a variety of benefits to the body such as; anti-bacterial, anti-septic, removal of toxins, improvement of circulation, skin nourishment and many more.

Essential oils such as; Lavender, Geranium, Grapefruit, Cypress, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood, Thyme, Mint and others have been used in our products.

Many essential oils on the market are not pure and can be mixed with synthetic ingredients making them a lower grade of oils. The majority of products on the market are created with artificial fragrances and perfumes.

Natural Carrier oils: Carrier oils such as; sweet almond, soybean, apricot kernel and others have been used in our products. These oils are gentle on the skin and work to deeply moisturize and nourish.

Many other skin care products on the market use synthetic lubricants such as; mineral oil and other petroleum based ingredients that can cause skin irritation and can be dehydrating.

Other plant extracts: Our plant extracts such as; grape seed, chamomile, aloe vera, rosemary and others have been created using a specialized extraction process that maintains the benefits of the plant/herb it originated from. Our plant extracts are in liquid from and are used in all of our formulations.

All of the above ingredients have been combined to create our unique Age Effective Complexes (I-V) that are used in the development of each product in the line.

All cream, lotion, gel, based cosmetic products with a shelf life of any kind require a preservative as it is used in to help maintain stability of the product by preventing growth of bacteria, other microbials, molds and yeast's. Without proper preservation especially for natural based products, bacteria can begin growing in a product within a very short period of time.

Natural preservatives such as; essential oils and anti-oxidants like; Vitamin E, can be effective in some products but only for a limited time. For the most part, these natural preservatives are not enough to provide an extended shelf life and proper control from growth of microbials and oxidation.

Many manufacturers use a high percentage of preservatives to provide a long shelf life of 3-5 years. These products can often be too harsh for the skin.

We use only enough of a preservative (less than 1%) to provide a shelf life of 1-2 years maximum.

All products should be stored at room temperature or lower and handled with proper care.

Our Product Bases:
There are many products on the market that have been created with natural extracts and other active ingredients. However, many of these products still use synthetic raw ingredients to create the base of the product cream, gel or lotion.

In the development of our products we do our best to use natural alternatives vs synthetics to create bases that are gentle to use on all skin types.
